APPENDIX 75.   SPECIAL PASSAGES IN THE BOOK OF PROVERBS ACQUIRING NEW LIGHT In the Companion notes to the Book of Proverbs, it will be observed that certain words are carefully discriminated:  such as the words for "fool", "poor"; the singular and plural of the wicked, the righteous, &c., are noted.  But certain proverbs also are presented in a new light altogether.  Among these are the following:   1:7. "The fear of the LORD". 1:17. "In vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird". 2:7. "He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous". 3:2, 16. "Length of days" supposed to be given by "wisdom".  See also 4:10; 9:11; 10:27. 5:2. "That thy lips may keep knowledge". 5:14. "Almost all in evil". 16:1.
